In just a few short days, we will celebrate our nation’s birthday, making America–okay, doing a little math here…carry the one–238 years old! And to celebrate, many of us will plan on cooking out with family or enjoying the outdoors. For most, however, this means taking in the area’s fireworks celebrations. But where are you to go? Follow these recommendations for 4th of July Fireworks Celebrations in the Houston area.
Southwest Airlines Freedom Oer Texas — Tinsley Park, Houston — July 4th Although this event isn’t free of admission ($8/person), it certainly promises to be among the most talked-about events of the summer. Featuring a fireworks celebration against the scenic backdrop of the Houston skyline, the Freedom Oer Texas event features appearances from several celebrities and musicians, including Jennifer Nettles from “Sugarland” and cast members from the TV show “Nashille.” Fourth of July at CityCentre — CityCentre, Houston — July 3rd-6th This event is free to the public, and features four nights of music to go along with the July 4th fireworks celebration. The fun kicks off on Thursday with the “Legendary Rhythm Bandits,” followed by “Mustache: The Band” on Friday (with fireworks after the concert), “The M-80s” on Saturday night, and with “The Coconuts” rounding out the weekend on Sunday. Vview full details here. 17th Annual Red, Hot and Blue Festial– Town Greven Park, The Woodlands — July 4th Beginning at 5:30pm on Friday, July 4th, come down to Town Greven Park and along the waterway in the Woodlands for all sorts of patriotic activities, including face painting, live music, and hot dog eating contests. The fireworks will begin at dusk, so come early to get a good spot! This event is free and open to the public. Independence Day Parade and Fireworks — Galeston Island — July 4th At 7:30pm on July 4th, the Independence Day festiities begin in Galeston Island with a parade featuring floats, street performers and military vehicles. Following the procession down Seawall Bouleard, there will be a fireworks show taking place over the picturesque Gulf of Mexico, kicking off at roughly 9:15pm. Get there early to get your seat! These are just a small sampling of the many events taking place with the upcoming holiday, but we certainly hope we’e between of some assistance.
