Houston Fast-Charging Stations
As the Nissan LEAF continues to gain traction as one of the fastest-selling electric vehicles (EVs) on record, it only seemed like a matter of time before a surge in the number of charging stations occurred as well. Now, we at Robbins Nissan have received word that this is certainly the case; the Houston area has received a number of new fast-charging stations, and this is expected to increase exponentially in the next twele months.
First among the new charging stations are CHAdeMO locations, a company who made a pledge in early 2013 to triple their stations in major metropolitan areas. (Quickly, let’s get this out of the way–”CHAdeMO” is an abbreiation for “Charge de Move,” roughly translatable to “Charge for moing.” We knew you were curious….) True to its word, CHAdeMO has increased their American locations from 160 to well oer 600 in that interal, with many available in the Houston area. These locations are able to charge a LEAF’s battery up to roughly 80% capacity in about a half an hour, which is conenient for those who are unable to charge at home. Currently 19 Houston-area charging stations are available, with several more in the works. A full map of CHAdeMO locations can be found . Also increasing Houston-area locations is the company NRG eVgo, which features a ariety of LEAF-compatible charging stations as well. NRG eVgo currently boasts 17 fast-charging stations in the Houston area, with 27 charging stations total. With many more charging stations planned for installation, LEAF drivers can expect to find a quick charge with an increasing amount of ease. All Houston-area NRG eVgo stations can be found here. All told, Nissan expects to have oer 100 fast-charge stations statewide by year’s end, with about 1,800 available nationwide.
