As one of the most celebrated and loved holiday in America, Independence Day is sure to be a grand ‘ol time.  With fireworks, good food, tasty drinks and patriotic activities, 4th of July 2018 near Houston, TX is going to be a memorable and fun-filled day.

Come out to Kingwood for the biggest 4th of July parade in Houston!  Hosted by the Kingwood Civic Club, there will be a Kids Fishing Rodeo and Bike Rodeo taking place before the parade starts.  Kids 15 and younger can bring their fishing gear and compete for trophies from 6 AM to 7:30 AM at the Foster’s Mill ponds; and then at 9 AM, kids can bring their decorated bikes to the Kingwood Bible Church parking lot to compete for trophies.  Then at 10 AM, the parade will start from Creekwood Middles School and end at Kingwood High School. 

4th of July Morning Ride 

If you enjoy meeting new people and staying active, then you should definitely join other Houston-area bike riders as you explore the city while listening to great, popular tunes through a Bluetooth speaker.  Presented by LetsDoThisHouston, riders will get to try out the brand-new Dutch Bikes—just be sure to wear your red, white and blue!  Check-in is at 9 AM and the ride starts at 9:30 AM at 2301 Elgin Street and it will end around 11 AM.  You must be 18 or older to participate, register beforehand and the prices vary from $8 to $16.

Stop by the Showtime Bar & Lounge for great deals on drinks from 2 PM to 8 PM.  There will also be free crawfish and BBQ available with a drink purchase, however, it’s first come, first served while supplies last.  There is also no cover charge the entire day and you can call ahead to book a section for your group.  This is a 21 and older event and remember to drink responsibly and never drink and drive. 

Freedom Over Texas 

As Houston’s signature Independence Day event at Eleanor Tinsley and Sam Houston Parks from 4 PM to 10 PM.  There will be four stages this year and headlining the main stage is popular country singer Chris Young.  The event will also have a fun Kids Zone, many concession stands and live music throughout the entirety of the night.  And of course, like in the past, the night will end with one of the biggest and coolest fireworks displays near Houston!  Tickets are just $8 online and it’s recommended that you bring blankets or lawn chairs for the show.
