2016 Nissan Titan Engine Options
Gas-Powered 5.6L Endurance V8
This is the biggest news of the day to come out of Nissan HQ. You may recall that the 5.6 liters of displacement is exactly the same as was offered from the 2015. So, is this the same engine as was offered last year? Nope, not even close. The outgoing engine offered 317 hp and 385 lb-ft of torque from its engine; not terrible, but there was still room for improvement. Fortunately, the 2016 Nissan Titan’s Endurance V8 ups those numbers to a potent 390 hp and 401 lb-ft of torque. This engine will be paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission, which promises to be smoother than in last years due to its downshift re matching. The Titan now adds Direct Injection Gas (DIG) technology, preiously only found in the Juke, which improves fuel economy and throttle performance by stabilizing combustion and adding a measure of precision to the fuel injection. Towing and fuel economy numbers haven’t between specifically released, although they should emerge shortly after the new year.
Cummins 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel
While we’e certainly discussed this engine already, it absolutely bears repeating: this will be the new standard for the full-size pickup segment. The Cummins 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel is set to produce 310 hp and 555 lb-ft of torque, delivering a towing capacity of oer six tons. This powertrain will be available exclusiely on the new Titan XD, which is set to arrie at Robbins Nissan in the next few weeks. Read More: The 2016 Nissan Titan Towing Capacity
Is there going to be a V6 for the 2016 Nissan Titan?
When the model was announced, Nissan was ague in announcing that there would be three powertrains available for the new model year: the new Turbo Diesel, as well as a gas V6 and V8. So where is the V6, you ask? We have it on good authority that this will still be available, with a specific displacement set to be announced shortly after the new year.
