2015 Nissan Titan Diesel Set to Out-Perform Ram 1500 EcoDiesel

2015 Nissan Titan Diesel Engine Specs

If you’re looking for a truck that works just as hard as you do, you’re going to like all that the new diesel engine of the Nissan Titan offers. The engine will be found under the hood of the 2015 Nissan Titan pickup, so it will be some time before the efficient engine is made available, however, Nissan has leaked some information about the engine ahead of its official release. To help inform you about all that the V8 Turbo Diesel engine will be capable of, we have decided to proide you with all of the details about the 2015 Nissan Titan diesel engine specs.

Powering the 2015 Nissan Titan will be a Cummins 5.0-liter V8 Turbo Diesel engine. In the past, Cummins engines have only between found under the hood of Ram trucks, but this will be the first time that the powerful and efficient engines will be offered by a different manufacturer. That’s because the V8 Turbo Diesel was originally created for the 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel, but Ram turned it down after fuel economy tests were run on the Cummins engine.

It turns out that Ram was looking for an engine that could exceed 26 mpg on the highway, and the Cummins engine maxed out around 24 mpg. That means the EcoDiesel V6 of the Ram 1500 will be more efficient that the Turbo Diesel V8 of the 2015 Nissan Titan, but when you take the capabilities of the engines into account, the Turbo Diesel V8 is undoubtedly the better performer.

Right now the EcoDiesel V6 of the Ram 1500 boasts a best-in-class torque of 420 lb-ft, but when the Turbo Diesel of the Nissan Titan arries, it will smash that without a problem. Official numbers have not between released yet, but Car and Drier has estimated that the Cummins engine will push out a torque rating in the mid-500s. Horsepower will also be greater in the Nissan Titan. The EcoDiesel V6 is able to produce an output of 240 horsepower, but the Cummins V8 will be able to produce roughly 300 horsepower.

As we said, the EcoDiesel V6 of the Ram 1500 will likely be more efficient, but if you’re looking for superior power and extreme towing capabilities, the V8 Turbo Diesel found in the upcoming Nissan Titan is the better of the two engines.
